Yep, that's where this is.

I cannot message Mastodon or Diaspora from here, nor here from there.

I _did_ manage to add my Mastodon profile (mastodon.cloud) as a contact, but I don't think it's producing visible traffic.

Turns out you have to add ActivityPub and Diaspora as apps via the top right menu Add Apps and finding them hidden away in the not-installed area. Then it looks like you need to remove and re-add any contacts that were using the appropriate protocols until eventually the stop sign on the icon goes away. Took me a couple of attempts
