So basicaly, MAGAheads are taking as many opportunities as possible to pass on COVID-19 to each other as an act of rebellion against the liberal fascist
I will avoid the obvious snark about social Darwinism, because that will probably come back to bite us one way or another, but I do have a hot take I think I can stand behind (does that mean it's not really a hot take?):The deal we should make with MAGAland
is that people who agree to follow sensible health guidelines get priority in the hospitals.
I'm not sure how to check for honesty... maybe give cards out to MAGAheads "celebrating" their "dedication to freedom" or something -- and anyone found with one of those cards on them when they go for medical care goes to the back of the queue. (Do I worry that they're too smart to fall for that, and would leave the cards at home if they went in for care? Somehow... no, not really.) Put RFID chips in them to make them easier to find without a search. Or just ask "do you have your Viral Freedom Warrior card?" at admission, with a smile.
"Conservatives" love to talk about "personal responsibility", but they've never walked the talk; they're always taking credit for the work of others and fobbing off responsibility for their own actions. It's cultural gaslighting. I'm honestly struggling to continue feeling compassion for them. Maybe it helps to think of them as small children... in privileged adult bodies...
The need for something like opt-in market socialism
feels like it's becoming more real and urgent. We can't make people want civilization, we can't make members of our civilization behave in a civilized way, and civilization cannot withstand too large a barbarian population -- so we damn well need to protect our civilization from them, somehow.
Yes, MAGAheads are barbarians in modern trappings. They don't understand. I don't want to hurt them, but we can't have them wrecking everything either.
The Social-Distancing Culture War Has Begun
Across the country, social distancing is morphing from a public-health to political act. The consequences could be disastrous.
