This presents a pretty devastating case for why Joe must
not be the Dem nominee -- both because he will get thoroughly Tromped and also because he's just not a leader.
Yes, it looked like Joe was going to clinch the nomination -- but that was 2 weeks ago. The Situation Has Changed. ...and his chances against Tromp were never good, even before the plague hit.
This holds true even if you somehow still reject Bernie as a candidate (though none of the reasons I've heard for doing so are holding up very well) -- aside from Bernie, our best fighting chance is if one or more of the dropped-out Dem candidates re-enter the race.
Some key points from the article:
- About the only thing we can say in favor of Joe over the Trumpsterfire is that he's our monster -- and he hasn't even been very good at representing our values (barely any better than the Tromper's representation of his supporters' values). He's not really ours; he belongs to the establishment -- the people who make big donations to both candidates so they will have the ear of whoever wins.
He's never been a "safe" candidate, and he is now less so than ever.
- Bernie has turned his campaign into a COVID-19 relief and advocacy organization.
I didn't know this. I think the word "leadership" might possibly apply here.
- Joe isn't doing anything about COVID-19, and his team have excused this as being due to his not being in office yet.
"...", as the kids say these days.
- Joe -- along with the rest of the Dem establishment -- has refrained from criticizing Trump.
WHAT.
Apparently one of Joe's advisors said “I don’t think the public wants to hear criticism of Donald Trump right now.â€
WHAT o.0
This is... ludicrous.
Largely as a result of this "restraint", half the country believes that Trump actually has everything well in hand -- because he tells them so, in soothing tones with reassuring hand-gestures, and feeds them false information which they believe because nobody is challenging it.
"Too political"? This situation is inherently political -- failure of political leadership is exactly why we weren't prepared, despite months of warning.
- Meanwhile -- who has actually been trying to hold The Trumpet publicly accountable for his lies and incompetence? (If you guessed Bernie, give yourself a cookie.)
- Is anyone still saying we don't need to dismantle the for-profit health insurance industry? If so, I would like to have a few words with them, in light of that industry's complicity in our unpreparedness. (...and Bernie is the one candidate who has been saying this all along. Joe, however, has been trashing even the mere idea of universal healthcare -- even in the face of the outcome we're now only starting to see.)
In conclusion, the Dem Party is in serious trouble if they can't recognize...
...wait, actually, no, they'll be fine -- this behavior is entirely in accord with what their largest donors want, and that's all that matters, right?
It's fine. Everything is fineâ„¢.
Everything Has Changed Overnight ⧠Current Affairs
The Democratic primary is no longer over. This is a historic crisis requiring nothing less than FDR-style ambition and leadership. We’ve got just the guy.
